Westgate, West Auckland

Westgate is a fast-growing town centre in the northwest of Auckland, New Zealand. The suburb in which it is situated was changed from Massey North to Westgate in 2013.

At the 2018 New Zealand census, Westgate Central had a population of 42 with 15 households.

Community Hub and Shopping Centres

Te Manawa is Auckland Council’s first fully-integrated community hub officially opened in 2019 with facilities and amenities including a library, customer service centre, hire rooms, commercial kitchens, creative spaces, work and research areas, and a Citizens Advice Office serving the suburbs of Westgate, Massey, West Harbour, and Hobsonville.

Northwest Shopping Centre is a shopping mall in Westgate on the other side of Fred Taylor Drive. The shopping centre was opened in 2015 and consists of 100 shops. 

Westgate Lifestyle and Westgate Shopping Centre are other major retail and shopping centres in Westgate.

Linking to the rapid commercial growth of Westgate, the Costco Wholesale warehouse club opened in the area in 2022, the first in New Zealand. Costco Wholesale Corporation is an American multinational corporation that runs a network of membership-only warehouse clubs.
