Rose Engineering ABOUT US Rose Engineering Ltd is a second generation family owned company established originally as J W Rose Ltd by John and Betty Rose in 1970. It originally set out to take advantage of the then-growing small boat industry, specialising in boat trailers and associated marine work. Soon after setting up, the company began making a range of material handling equipment including pallet trucks, hand trucks, stacker trucks and drum cradles. Lift Manufacturing In 1984 we purchased a lift manufacturing business making stair lifts, wheelchair lifts, inclined lifts, hydraulic elevators, goods hoists and scissor lifts.  The lifts ranged in various capacities, with flat, gravity, or powered roller platforms – two directions, container/pallet orientation platforms, and floor mounted roller strands. Industrial Efficiency Providers Past projects have been roller strands, orientation mats, and 14-ton capacity scissor lifts for freight handling, scissor lifts/conveyors, material handling scissor lifts and stage lifts. Other significant works completed includes intake screens and precipitator elements for Huntly Power Station, tunnel and column concrete forms for Boral Acrow, steel fishing boats, and board laminating machinery. We have a 15,000 sq ft factory in West Auckland.  This is fully equipped with a comprehensive machine shop, including a CNC lathe, centre lathes, milling machines, drills, profile cutting and welding facilities, and a gantry crane. We presently have a permanent staff of six with casual contractors available when needed. In addition to in-house drawing and design staff, we have a close association with a design engineer with a background in the oil, timber, and cargo handling industry. His design and project management experience is invaluable to us in ensuring we keep up with international technology and standards.

Toolmaker and Fitter Turner by trade; who has worked in the engineering industry for the past 40 years.  Ricky managed various engineering workshops in both New Zealand and Australia.  In 2010 he established West Engineering Services Ltd.  After seeing a niche for supplying steel and related products in West Auckland he has now expanded the business and has opened a steel and supply shop for general engineering needs.

Steel Fabricator Certification (SFC) is a certification scheme to ensure participating steel fabricators have the capacity to manufacture product of necessary quality.  The SFC Scheme provides procurers and specifiers with not only greater certainty of product quality, but that they are dealing with a fabricator who has proven procedures and personnel that, together, represent international best practice. SFC’s focus is on quality assurance and reducing risk for procurers and specifiers. As with many construction materials, the current compliance regime for structural steel work relies, for the most part, on self-inspection and self-certification. But this approach is dependent on the expertise, ethics and quality systems of the fabricator, and on the knowledge and expertise of engineers and welding inspectors to assess if the steel supplied is compliant. Significantly, the SFC scheme provides independent expert certification of New Zealand fabrication companies to ensure they have the appropriate quality management systems in place that enables them to consistently produce compliant fabricated product of the required standard. SFC was developed by the Heavy Engineering Research Association (HERA) and Steel Construction New Zealand (SCNZ). The key factors of SFC qualified fabricators ensures the following: Quality control – materials, welding procedures, welder qualifications, traceability Standards and Specifications are followed, including internal and/or external weld testing Full traceability of materials from procurement to welding, painting and final installation.
