Hi, I’m Gerry
I’m a fully qualified female driving instructor in Titirangi, West Auckland. As the mother of four children, I am continually working to keep them safe. To me the safety of not just our teenagers but all people learning to drive and all people using the roads is one of my upmost priorities.
Before becoming a Driving Instructor I worked for the Blind Foundation for many years. My years working in this sector gave me valuable experience in both dealing with and communicating effectively with a wide variety of people.
I teach in my automatic Suzuki Swift with dual controls for added safety. I will also teach in your manual car if you provide this.
I’ve taught many people to drive and I‘ve got an excellent pass rate. As a female driving instructor in West Auckland, I really love my job and I particularly enjoy seeing my pupils pass their driving tests first time.

Your instructor:
Hi, I’m John
I have been a driving instructor for more than 30 years now whereof 20 years in Auckland.
Before I became an instructor, I was a gymnastic coach and coached the Olympic team in Atlanta (1996), Sydney (2000) and Athens (2004). These experiences have thought me how to coach people in very stressful situations, with arena’s full of people watching, tv camera’s and photographers everywhere.
I completely understand that people can be very nervous when they learn how to drive. With my coaching and instructor experience I am very confident that I can help you to get your full driver licence in a calm way.

ABOUT US
Holistic eye health for every member of your family.
We know that how we manage your vision today has a big impact on how well you’ll see the world tomorrow.
The key is spotting potential eye health issues before they become major or irreversible.
To achieve this our practice utilises the latest technology, such as our OCT-A machine, which allows us to see changes in the blood vessels beneath the retina and macular, a warning sign for Glaucoma or Macular Degeneration. By picking up on these problems at the earliest possible stage we can advise you on the best options to manage your condition going forward.
But along with caring for your vision, we want you to look great too.
That’s why we offer a wide range of contemporary frames, with something guaranteed to suit everyone in your family
Westgate Optometrists offers excellence eyecare to families in the areas of Waimauku, Huapai, Riverhead, Whenuapai, West Harbour, Hobsonville, Greenhithe, Taupaki, Henderson
OUR SERVICES
Your Eye Health Is Our Priority
Eye examinations can help you discover vision problems that may need attention. Some eye disorders are silent and can only be treated if detected early; a thorough eye examination is therefore recommended at least once every two years for everyone – even if you are not experiencing any difficulties.
Children’s Vision
A child’s early years are especially important for their development. If their visual system is not functioning well, it could result in them struggling to read and falling behind at school, or having difficulty in sporting activities. Often, they would be assessed for a behavioural problem.
Eye Examination
A comprehensive eye exam is more than just a vision check. It also assess the entirety of your eye health, which can provide a good indication of your overall health. Glaucoma, cataracts and macular degeneration are only some of the things we look for as part of the check.
Contact Lenses
Whether you’re looking to try contact lenses for the first time, or it didn’t work for you in the past, our experienced optometrists are adept and enthusiastic about coming up with solutions to fit your particular lifestyle visual needs, including multifocal and even specialty contact lenses.
Myopia Control
The continued worsening of your child’s shortsightedness can be a worrying experience. While there is no definitive cure at the moment, there are treatment options which have been shown to be greatly effective in slowing down the progression, including Orthokeratology. These can be suitable for children as young as 5 years old.
Digital Lenses
In this post-pandemic world, we are spending ever-increasing amounts of time in front of screens. We put in the effort to understand your specific workstation and visual needs, and make recommendations on the latest lens technologies that gives you the best vision and comfort, including anti-fatigue lenses and blue-light blocking coatings.
Dry Eye Therapy
Dry eyes (or watery eyes) are increasingly common, and can be irritating and difficult to address, sometimes requiring in-office treatments which we provide here. In most circumstances, we can give practical lifestyle suggestions that looks at the big picture and aims to address the root causes of your dry eyes.
Low Vision
Sometimes the eyes are just not able to see as well as they used to even with the best glasses on. This is where special attention to providing the right low vision solutions can make a difference.

ABOUT US
Wight Optometrists has been at the forefront of visual care for 50 years – consistently maintaining excellence in all forms of eye care. Our facilities include two examination rooms, a retinal camera, an automated field screener and an own on-site workshop. Wight Optometrists have seen frames change over the years from a few very functional styles to fashion accessories that function well and also look stunning.
History of Wight Optometrists
Wight Optometrists was established in 1962 by Michael Wight and for nearly 20 years it was the only practice in Auckland west of New Lynn. It has endured in Henderson from when it was a small village on a metal road down from Glendene to the bustling Waitakere City Centre that it is today. Michael Wight was the sole owner of Wight Optometrists for 40 years until 2002 and since 2002 it has been owned by Darryl Eastabrook. Wight Optometrists started as a small one room practice in Garden Place in Henderson, moved after a few years onto Great North Road and in 1985 moved upstairs where it is currently situated today.
The practice has been a leader in eyecare throughout it’s history, from when contact lenses were first fitted to the first prescribing of therapeutic medication.

About Cassidy Eyecare
Cassidy Eyecare is owned and operated by Troy and Stephanie Cassidy. Between us we have over 30 years of experience in the optical industries of New Zealand, Australia and the UK. We are West Auckland born and bred, and still live locally.
We are members of the New Zealand Association of Optometrists, the NZ Cornea and Contact Lens Society, Glaucoma NZ, and the Australasian College of Behavioural Optometrists. We are also licensed vision examiners for Maritime NZ, the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) and the NZ Police.
Our philosophy of practice is to provide personal eyecare to our patients, using the best instrumentation and technology. We are not part of a corporate chain, and we don’t employ a succession of locum optometrists which change every time you visit. We take the time to understand your vision, and can provide the consistent ongoing eyecare you’ve been looking for.
To help support healthy vision in our community, we donate $2 to Glaucoma New Zealand for every spectacle frame we sell.
Our Optometrists

His particular optometry interests lie in contact lens fitting and glaucoma.
